What's this then ? They say not much happens around here (Macksville NSW) but if you look around there is always something going on. This is Guy Crosley, he did the big mosaic in the main street of Nambucca Heads. Seeing as I have been messing with mosaic tiling this year I decided to track him down and he invited me to attend the Bowraville Community garden project opening. He supervised the makeover of 4 picnic tables for the park, local school children, some teachers and it seems maybe even some mums made squares of mosaic and then Guy used the squares to cover the top of the table and the benches. The benches, when I arrived, were still covered in brown paper. Schoolchildren then wrapped them in Christmas wrapper and I helped dole out the sticky tape. After the speeches the tables were unveiled and the kids got stuck in to cleaning off the brown paper backing. Sausages were sizzled and salads and fruit eaten and a good time was had by all. It was a nice community and kids and volunteers were planting trees and vegetables. There was also a deadly looking timber bench created by another aritst, i was carved out of a whole tree trunk and it was always covered in people so I couldnt get a photo of it. |
